Abstract

The article presents the trajectory throughout the twenty years of existence of the Nucleus of Research and social and Educational Action, of the Federal University of São Carlos. The authors focus on the specificity of NIASE: the articulation between teaching, research and university extension based on the concept of dialogic learning, the understanding that university extension and teacher training need to be carried out based on scientific evidence produced in co-creation with the population, and that insertion in international research networks is essential to produce quality knowledge. The research and extension projects of the group and the subjects taught over the 20 years by researchers, both beginners and experienced, who belong or have belonged to the NIASE team, are analyzed. The main thread of the narration is given by the most experienced author, in dialogue with the other two authors, both formed at NIASE and who currently coordinate the Nucleus together with her.
